The central arrival point in Berchtesgaden is the train/bus station. Direct connections are available with the Inter-City trains “Königssee” from Hamburg via Hannover - Würzburg-München and “Alpenland” from Dortmund via Köln - Mainz – Stuttgart - München Ost. At two hour intervals, the Inter-City or Euro-City service operates from Frankfurt to Salzburg via Heidelberg - Stuttgart - München with a change in Freilassing. In addition, the regional trains run on the Berchtesgaden - München stretch with a change in Freilassing. Almost hourly train service is offered with departures to and from Berchtesgaden beginning at approx. 7:00 until approx. 23:30.

The RVO buses (regional bus service) operate between Berchtesgaden and the various entrances into the National Park such as Königssee, Hinterbrand, the Wimbachbrücke, the National Park-Information point near Hintersee Lake and Klausbachtal. Of course there is also service between Markschellenberg, Bad Reichenhall, Salzburg, etc. Please check the current departure times on the RVO bus timetable.
